14/48 Leicester is an itinerant festival, with a aim of forming many partnerships with venues and individuals as possible.
It is the most exciting time as 14/48 Leicester is a virgin experience for many people and with this being the first one – we aim to share this development with many people with the hope of creating a festival with pride’s itself on having collaboration as its sole core.
The First 14/48 will be produced by:
The Y Theatre Leicester: The Y Theatre is a bustling live performance venue based in Leicester city centre. Their eclectic programme currently includes music, comedy, theatre, dance and spoken word. The 300 seat theatre also comfortably hosts candle-lit cabaret style events and standing gigs. Built in 1900, The Y is the oldest surviving theatre in Leicester.
The Y also hosts many comedy shows when the Dave Leicester Comedy Festival is in town and holds the annual Leicester Mercury Comedian of the Year Compertiton as well as running for many years Emergency! programme which is an eclectic showcase of new work hosted by The Y Theatre. Presenting new work in theatre, dance, performance poetry and short film this is a great networking opportunity, for regional artists to perform, network and get feedback.
Darren Kay – BA Honors In Professional Studies Student at Leicester College and De Montfort University.
Darren is currently in his final year of his degree and as part of his work has decided to partner with the Y in helping bring 14/48 as part of his final year dissertation and project work. Darren has taken shows previously to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and was given the once in a lifetime experience in the Summer of 2012 giving out Bronze, Silver and Gold Medals at the Olympic Stadium for the Olympic and Paralympic Games. It’s these experiences that Darren wants to make 14/48 a once in a lifetime chance for others. Darren has managed to secure a partnership with O2 to help bring much support and resources to the pilot of 14/48 Leicester.
